The Bloodline

31 Aug, 2006

Welcome to our first villainous Super Group Spotlight!

imageSuper Group Spotlight is a feature dedicated to taking a closer look at the many and varied Super Groups created by players of both City of Heroes and City of Villains.

If you’re the founder or current leader of a Super Group in either City of Heroes or City of Villains, and would like your SG to be considered for Super Group Spotlight, you can find all the details in Introducing: Supergroup Spotlight! on the official message boards.

Now, though, read on to learn all about our first ‘spotlighted’ villainous Super Group, The Bloodline…

The Bloodline

“Power, the birthright of nobility”

http://www.supergrouphub.com/

Founders: Kinslayer, Dark Merchant, Scar Child

Origins: The Bloodline was started as soon as City Of Villains launched and was made up, initially, of players from the New Blood Rebellion and Last Line of Defence Super Groups from City Of Heroes. In the time we’ve been in existence, we’ve recruited other members and are now one of the more well known Villain Groups on Union. We also have a full historical background…

The ‘Bloodline’ has been behind plans for world domination and grand crime since 1762. Originally formed from members of the rich aristocracy, unhappy at their lack of influence in higher social circles, these malcontents banded together and began plotting on how to bring down those above them and gain more power for themselves.

As their schemes succeeded and noble after noble was disgraced at court, undermined or bankrupted as a result, they began to realise how much power they truly had at their disposal.

Their true descent into the powerful group they are in the Rogue Isles today began when the criminally insane Duke Adamar III began recruiting more members of the debauched aristocracy and would let no law stop him in his schemes for power. ‘The Bloodline’ proper was formed by Adamar, aided by three other nobles.

Throughout history, this society has been hidden in the shadows like puppet masters until discovered by Lord Recluse. Seeing the delicious potential of such a group, Recluse has called them to the Rogue Isles and lifted their veil of secrecy, unleashing them in full against the defenders of Paragon City.

Important Figures Of The Founding Years

Duke Adamar III
The illegitimate child of a prince abandoned at birth, Adamar joined the armed foces, unaware of his heritage.

Driven mad by discovering his childhood was a lie and he was in fact the son of a prince and of noble blood, Adamar tracked down his heirless father and was named his heir. Unknown to his sire, Adamar was not the simpering son looking for his long lost dad but a viper in the nest, and Adamar II died of mysterious circumstances shortly after naming his heir.

For several bloody years Duke Adamar III commanded his armies and wreaked havoc upon foreign lands. His bloodlust did not quench when he returned home but his greed and insanity now ruled his mind and rumours were widespread that he dabbled in the dark arts.

Count Alucard
A secretive and strange individual who returned as Adamar’s right-hand man from his violent conquests of Eastern Europe, Alucard’s blood lust rivalled that of his lord. Alucard was feared by many in his homelands, and stories were told of how he would devour the blood (and some say the very souls) of his enemies. He also has a strange fear of mirrors and signs his name in reverse. It is believed that it was this man who introduced Adamar to the dark arts.

Viscount Drake Vintosa
The Viscount was originally a pirate and smuggler who used his ill-gotten gains to buy his title. Known to have more slaves than any man alive, the Viscount profited heavily from labour and the slave trade, and was known to hunt slaves for sport. A truly gifted swordsman and knife fighter, the Viscount would never lose the nickname he gained from his pirating days - ‘Bloodblade’.

Baron Salathin Armundo Marquez
A Spanish traitor who helped the duke in the slaughter of his own people, to be trusted by no one. The baron will do anything for money and has been involved in prostitution, body snatching and assassination to advance to his position. Marquez truly is the worm of the ‘Bloodline’ hierarchy who was often tasked with poisonings and assassinations - he would be the first to run from armed conflict, preferring the much more base power advancement of a knife in the back

Goals: We exist to enjoy playing the game! We also take care to not take ourselves too seriously, and to be active members of the community. We have little interest in being known as an ‘uber’ VG and pride ourselves on the fact we’re a friendly group who play for fun rather than achievement.

Activities: We team within our VG and coalition as much as possible and run regular TFs, badge hunts, etc. The usual VG activities. We’re not a massive PvP group but do organise badge hunts and other community events as regularly as our imagination allows.

Our ranks are Tyrant, Dictator, Despot, Servant and Slave. Slave is our ‘trial’ rank for newcomers and most people are promoted up from that within a week.

Our ‘leadership’ structure is probably one of the most open in the game, with all members having access to most privileges from day one or shortly after. We do not believe in regimentation, but in trusting all the members to not abuse their privileges. Promotion is not related to prestige or game knowledge, but to the ability and willingness to help other VG members and be an active member of the group. While Kinslayer is nominally the leader, we are run on cooperation and majority opinion.

Finest Moments: As mentioned before, we’re not an SG that considers itself or even likes to be considered as ‘uber’. Modesty is a virtue in the eyes of myself and the other SG members.

That said, we do have a lot to be proud of. The first is that the two founding members of our CoH SG - Kinslayer and Scar Child - are both still here and still leading this VG branch after the initial launch of CoH two years ago.

That aside though, the thing I’m most proud of happened about 2 months before I7 - we hit our 75 member VG limit. Now that may not sound impressive, but we had no alts in the VG. Every one of the 75 members was an individual player, and not a single one of those 75 had not been online for over 15 days. The time I checked we also had 23 members online.

While we may not be the biggest prestige farming VG or the best PvPing SG, one thing we are is one of the most active VG’s on Union server.

imageBase: Our base is designed for defence if we are subjected to raids, and has all the usual trimmings of medical facilities, TPs to all zones, SG computer, IoP bases and Anchors. We’re also lucky to have a second base which is more ‘social’ for our alt VG, Blood Pack.

Future Plans: To continue being a VG that is an asset to the community. To continue being one of the most friendly VGs on the server. To continue making the game as enjoyable as possible for new players and VG members. To continue being a VG our fellow coalition members are proud to be allied with.

Recruitment: We’re always open to new members but space is at a premium. We do not recruit based on ability or place Prestige farming constraints on our members. The best way to get invited is to send a tell in game to @kinslayer or to any one of our other members - all have permission to invite.

I feel very much the same way, My husband and i started League of Heroes, we were proud to be an sg based on friendship rather than how good we all were. We have had some fairly well known characters in both league of heroes and League of Villians, i am proud to say that some of “my boys” include ppl like Dawnrazor, Raziel dx, Posion Veins, the wonderful Lord Spawnus and many more. It is very sad that most sg’s boast about how much prestige they have or wether they r the best sg. Us guys just love to play, i have made so many friends thro this game. Bloodline u have my respect as a fellow gamer, an sg should also b based on friendship.  cool smile
