Jack ‘Statesman’ Emmert reveals villainous plans

17 May, 2005

In an interview published last month, Jack Emmert told IGN some of what to expect from City of Villains, including details on how it will interact with City of Heroes. Here is a sample:

IGN: How can City of Villains be both a stand-alone product and still work with City of Heroes?

Jack Emmert: If a customer doesn’t own City of Heroes, yet buys City of Villains, he’ll be able to be a bad guy and play all the villain content, but he won’t be able to go to Paragon City (or at least parts of it). If a player owns City of Heroes and doesn’t buy City of Villains, he’ll still be able to enjoy City of Heroes, but he won’t be able to fight against villains or travel to the City of Villains. If a player owns both - he can do everything!

Does this mean you have to have 2 active accounts or what ?

Do you have to have an active coh account and an active cov account to enjoy it all ?

City OF Villains it’ll be then mwuhahaha !

Sander: You won’t need an active City of Heroes account to play City of Villains - it will work as a stand-alone game.

If you want to play heroes as well as villains, you will need both, though.

regarding the above. I have heard to play PVP and have access to all areas you need both games. but does this mean I must have an active account in both games. I.e. if I only want to play a villian but want access to there areas for PVP do I need two accounts or is having the game loaded enough.

Secondly if two accounts are required is there plans for discount if you have both (as you can’t play both at the same time!).

really looking forward to playing this /images/smileys/smile.gif

Yeah agree, that’s what is preventing me from going after City of Villains.  I don’t have an endless amount of money which I’m sure I’m not the only one in the boat here.  I would like it if you could just have one account for everything, like how Sony is doing with their online games.  If that comes out a discount or something, I need to know, or else I might miss out on some good gaming when I don’t have to.

this is <censored> they should have a single game account ie 14.99 and a multi game account ie like 24.99 with like a limit of 4 games per multi game account i mean who has 60 bucks a month to be shelling out for accounts their are plenty of free games out their they should be happy we are paying for service at all never the less charging us for each account/game we want to play from them i mean u can only play one at a time i mean does this only make sence to me. i say who has 60 bucks because i have a son who playes so we both have COH accounts ie 30 bucks a month now with COV comming out are u telling me I need to shovel out 60 bucks to play them both this is crazy and i think they need to rethink their charges esp for multi gamming families

omgudied2: The subscription pricing for City of Villains has not yet been announced. Might I humbly suggest that you wait until it has been before deciding whether it’s fair or not? /images/smileys/wink.gif

yeah you can suggest it Crater, but that doesn’t mean to say it won’t happen like omgudied2, and I suggested.  It is all a possibility.  If they want people to pre-order the game then they should have gotten their billing straight before asking for pre-orders.  Like I said before, the lack of knowledge is what is causing me to miss out on a good game.  Whereas if I had the knowledge of their intent, I would make a logical decision based on what is given.
